cleaned my boat today, and thought id run her up, getting it ready for this summer and noticed when idling it was dripping fuel from the bottom of the airfilter box, if i take the filter box off, and can see what carb its comming from, could it be a case of dropping the carb bowl, and maybe a float is sticking or a bit of crap maybe in it, im not a mechanic but can check basic stuff, any advice greatly appreciated, ps as if the engines not thirsty enough its throwing it away aswell

Sometimes a tap on the float bowl will unstick the float, otherwise as you said take it apart clean and reassemble

Think you've probably hit the nail on the head. I used to have a Merc XR2 which that happened to on a number of occasions. Take the bowl off the bottom of the carb and have a close look at the float needle and it's seat where it seals. It will probably put right with a clean out with some carb cleaner or alike solvent.

Just make sure to re check for leakage a couple of times on your first run out with the boat. If fuel puddles in the bottom tray it will go up in flames when the powerhead gets hot.

Not trying to scare the cr@p out of you but I had that wonderful experience.
