A few questions on a P21
Hi Guys,
I have Dels old P21 'Here On Business' I fitted a Merc 225xs the engine height is is second hole from the top of the saddle, putting the bullet pretty much inline with the V. I am running a tempest prop, is this the correct one for the boat? I get slight cavitation as im coming onto the plane. The boat does handle pretty well i just get quite a bit of torque steer if i dont build up the power slowly. I used the hole on the transom that del was using and they are set in the center, is this ok? Also where should the neutral position for the trim be? I have the bolt that sets this one from the closest in, should i remove it or bring it in one more? I hope this makes sense and doesnt sould like i am talking too much rubbish. One more question, the most important one of all, what speed should i be getting? on Average.
Many Thanks.
Jack

its a trim limiting bolt dude its there to stop you trimming in too far. you could try moving it to the closest hole but i doubt i'll make much difference. never run a tempest so cant comment but would have thought you should be in the very lhigh 60's with this setup. what do you mean by torque steer?? twists over to one side or wants to turn right?? What steering are you running?

Hi Burty,
Thanks for the reply. I have seastar steering, its what i run on my ring and had no issues with it so thought id carry on. Yes it seems to dive to the left if i put the power down too suddenly. Iv moved the trim bolt closer in and i can get on plane alot easier now. What prop would you suggest for my set up. Id like to be getting 70 really.

Lasers and the newer similar props seem to work quite well on them and are cheap and easy to get. That's what Edd runs on his and he can see 70 with the bullet way below, full leisure setup and 200hp. He also gets good allround handling and only a small amount of aeration getting on the plane, though this is required really to allow the motor to build revs with a tall prop.
Cheers, James

i'd try dropping your motor down a hole then dude and go again before you try props. this should give you a little more natural bow lift which means you don't have to trim out so much, it should also help with holeshot. let us know how you get on
