A frames for ribs

Just purchased a new (to me) rib with a single a frame. quite a tall one and would love to use it to ski off but not really sure it's man enough. Just wondering if there's any way to either streghtn or make sure it's up to the job and I won't damage the boat
thanks
chris

If it has an attachment point it may be strong enough, but I doubt it if it's tall and a single tube with no support - more information about the boat and a photo would help though!

Agree with Cookee - if it's anything like this, then you have no chance

What happened with taking part in DRIFTING ?,or did I get the wrong end of the stick and it's was not the DRIFTING ie throwing a car sideways arround corners it was going out to sea in a rib and breaking down type of DRIFTING ?

That's actually amazingly ironic as that's actually the boat I've purchased, so no need for me to upload a picture, what could bedone to alter it, or will a new onebe needed
an nic, boats are a fickle thing, I missed skiing etc Far too much, skidding A car is fun and all, but no where near associable

You'd need a heavier, double A-frame to ski from, with fixings to the deck or hull for the forward section. 2" OD tubing is good for a ski/wakeboard A frame.

is there any way you can fit a coupple of rachit straps from the tower to towards the bow? a single pole with two rachit straps works a treat. i have done loads of wakeboarding from a boat rigged like that. only diffrence is you have an a frame. i wouldnt swing from it as it is tho.

I'm so glad you suggested that (being an engineer) as that was the same idea I had but thought it sounded stupid. Is there an where you cab get stainless ratchet straps or the like. There are cleets/ eyes in the floor, so suspect someone might have done similar before
cheers
chris

you won't board or ski off of that for any length of time, not only will it fold backwards but it would colapse sideways, you could make a new out of thicker tude or thicker wall tube or both, you could weld the transom support brackets to the aframe to make it stronger low down, cross brace it and forward brace's will do if you only want to do it now and again
