airlock in oil pipe

Can anyone give me an idea how to get the oil from the remote tank pumping into the resovoir on the engine i am useing the oil from the resovoir then the alarm goes off at low level, i have topped it up and tried holding something over the filler but still does not seem to be refilling,all caps are tight and cant find any leaks i think it is just trapped air. any ideas?.

mounted oil reservoir tank

Filling Engine Mounted Oil Reservoir tank
Mercury procedure:

note: filling this tank is only necessary if the oil level should ever drop and the oil oil warning system is activated.

Remove the top cowl. Loosen the fill cap on the engine oil reservoir tank.Run the engine until all the air ha been vented out of the oil reservoir tank and tank is filled with oil to the point of overflow. Retighten the fill cap. Stop the engine and replace the top cowl.
Of course, before doing this you must have enough oil in the remote oil tank.
If this does not work you have may be a leak on the hose line between the engine and the remote oil tank. check it carefully, may be the ''bi-tube ''hose is squeeze somewhere.....
Or a sticked check-valve (seee drawing position 8).

Hi just read post so you might have sorted! but check that your getting pressure coming out of the fitting on the block and it sounds like you might have the hoses on the wrong way round oil/air check at the tank end there is usually an arrow on the fitting if not unscrew it an have a look. They normally bleed up fairly quick!
