BBC motor mounts?

Hi all,

I'm looking at using the below type of engine mount in the revenger, it had a similar (albeit homemade) version when I got it.

Trouble is, this gives no adjustment, and I can't decide on how I'll build the mounts from the stringers, most likely an upside down 'u' section that sleeves over the stringer, possibly full length so it bolts to the transom and bulkhead too, with two bits coming off to connect to the engine half.

Can anyone give any advice on this, or examples of how it's normally done? Any pics greatly appreciated!

Cheers, James

James, mine is as you say, upside u section over the stringers with a fabricated box section in between (2 angles down and 1 flat) to undersling the sump/engine and standard mounts bolted to the top of that.

If you'd rung me earlier I would have taken a piccie but she's just been packed away ready for me to clear off to France to pick the new vessel up in a weeks time.

Oh and just having been out in the Revengere I can inform you that I have all of those rebuild bits on the shelf, but you can't have any of them as I need them myself!

Bugger! I lost your number a while ago along with my old phone, feel free to PM it to me though, I've never known someone be such a wealth of help and knowledge! Who do you get your bits through? I can't decide between CP in the states or Real Steel in the UK...

Cheers,

James

James I'll txt you my number.

As for supplies to be honest, for me Realsteel started to be cheaper / more effective a few years ago as by the time you do exchange rates, import duty, Vat, shipping etc the benefit had disappeared. May be different for you over there, you'll have to do your sums.

For anything Mercruiser only though my ole mate Doug Ashley sorts me out though since he became a carrot cruncher he's not so easy for me to drop in and annoy. (probably why he moved up there). Doug in my mind is one of the best out there and anything I pass on to you is secondhand guru knowledge from him with a little Denis Moore thrown in.
