Just to point out before anyone has any bright ideas he's already tried pulling the kill cord to as i suggested it to him on the phone but that didnt work either.

Edit: post is a bit late but some of us are actually working whilst at work!!

I'm sure if you give TD a call/PM he'll sort you out with a new merc loom at good price that hasnt been hacked about! Its not worth setting fire to your boat over a few pennies. Get a new loom (remember I have seen your old one!)

no hacking etc
the only thing that was said when it was down tonys was the state of the floor
an thats been sorted now
cye.. with that black earth and black and yellow wire,
it goes from my ignition barrel to by kill switch... but then where should it go??
thanks

Black and yellow goes back into the loom and connectd to the switch boxes, front and rear. Make sure your kill switch/switches is not defective.

As cyco said, when it makes with the black it cuts the engine.
I have the start on a switch so engine does not stop unless kill cord is pulled.

Chris, the loom has been in same position for ages, you disconnected it pulled it back to transom then re routed it up the other side of boat it could be that the loom is old and wires have gone a little brittle so when pulling it all through and bending it about a wire could have broken somewhere inside the loom,
Buy anew one and save alot of hastle

unfortunately i cant really afford it atm
but on closer inspection think ive found possibly what is causing it
black and black with yellow trace wire come from the ignition, to the kill switch, but thats it
so im prettly sure a wire has become ditached at some point
so what wire am i looking for and where to connect it??

I'm just about to do the same job on mine(when it warms up)-Fed up with hitting my knee on the gear selector,so when you have overcome all the problems you can let me know-If it warms up are you up for a blast?

Often bad earth on the engine side of the loom. Run an earth cable from battery neg terminal to kill switch
