Bravo Gimbal welding / machining

Who is best for welding and machining of a mercruiser bravo3 gimbal ?.

Is there any one in the Portsmouth, Southampton area you could recomend ?.

Or any one further away I could always courrier it to them.

What sort of price do you think it would be?.

Regards
Mark

my opinion on welding and machining shafts is unless you REALLY need to don't do it. i have built up and machined countless shafts with various techniques but you will get distortion. i use a rotary welding fixture for this at the moment but the smaller the shaft the more likely you are to get distortion. heating the shaft in such a direct location will also result in a heat effected zone likely to weaken the component. it can normally be straightened and machined fine but normally not worth the agro

unless its vastly rare or a very big shaft put new/second hand parts back.
