Does any one know where I can get a new prop shaft fitted to my Mariner 300 Mag close to Drivers?
Cheers

When i used to run race props on my cat, it was std to start the engine in gear to reduce the snatch on the G/B shaft, does anyone still do this?
Maybe this just me getting old again.
Like Matt says get the box off, even if you dont do technical g/box removal is for kids,it aint gonna sort itself.

Always start my engine's in gear helps prolong gearbox life.

I allways start the engine in gear - someone at drivers told me it was the best thing for the gearbox.

Thinking of going for the "Fat" prop shaft any thoughts?

"Farouk Abdul" is coming on fine launch date is 18-20 May so that has fekked any chance of anything + 1 month from that day. Was on schedule for a surprise vist to the Thames Run but work has pushed to the forefront courtesy of SFAR 88 (flying thing) and put the mockers on it. Guess 2-3 week of April so I can run the thing in get a feel for it then drag it back for a month to make any changes I need to make. Reapper again after the hatchling has settled in.

Gazza this No 4 .......that I openly admit too

Back to a Fat shaft.

My thinking is Big boat. Big engine & you have just broken a 15 spline one, downside reduced off the shelf prop selection

If you are still in doubt have a quick look at this Merc Service Bulletin
No 2000-8

Basically you get a 20% increase in shaft size

If it does a starters cheaper than a gearbox to replace.
