I am changing my steering to Seastar pro,the old system I have is hydraulic with the square ram mounted to the front of the mid section(not sure what make ?identification appreciated?)I wanted to find out before I strip the helm if the mounting bolts are likely to be the same spacings,ie will the seastar helm fit the same holes.Any help appreciated.Nic
What helm have you currently got Nic? Chances are they won't line up, worst case is that the hole in the dash is bigger than the seastar helm.
Might need to make up a plate to fit the seastar helm.
I've had the same problem years ago too.
I've bought an adapter from seastar
reference:Kit HA5418
not very expensive and looks like the added picture, fitted on a seastar pro helm H5770

The old helm looks very similar to the seastar but I can't find any identification.I know i'd be lucky to have the same stud spacing,I'll have to measure from the existing studs,
Cheers Nic
It could be a seastar helm then Nic, or the vetus helm is very similar. So you might get lucky! Either way it's not a big deal to fit the seastar if they don't line up. If you have to redrill just use a backing plate.

I have looked at mine but not taken it apart yet,the helm unit looks to have a flange similer to the seastar kit you describe but I cant tell if its all one part oe two seperate parts.does the flange ring you mention slip over the helm body?

Hi I finally took the helm off and the dash hole is bigger than required
for the Seastar,if anyone has one of these or can recommend a good Seastar stockist/Agent in the UK would be appreciated.
Thanks Nic
