Can only rework a blade so much, Couldn't get enough acceleration with a pich change so reduced the blade area with a dia reduction.
Things have become a lot easier in the computer age.

I see, so basically ya reduced the blade area slightly to increase slip, enabling the engine to rev a bit more.

Aren't prop's still reworked by hairy blokes with big hammers & anvils?

It's duo. New gearbox arrived today. If it's not enough change the props will be getting a wee hit.
