compression

mate of mine is going to look at fletcher with 75hp merc 1991 bloke says engine has had rebuild a year ago so going to do compression test but what should the compression be

When I measured mine (1992 Merc 75) about 18 months ago I got: 9.2 Bar, 9.4 Bar, 9.4 Bar (about 135 psi).

Do a leakdown test - much more accurate. If you are not sure what it is, do you know a piston aircraft mechanic? He'll certainly know and probably has the tools to do it.
