correct oil mix
Hi, i have a mariner 200 2.5v6 year 2000 carbed model, just wondering what the correct oil/fuel ratio i should be running it on should be?

I ran 40:1 Merc Premium Plus in mine. Some people use 33:1 but unless you're revving the hell out it there's no benefit, just more expense!

Standard 200 should only be 50:1 on a good TCW3 oil !!

i run 32.1 on quicksilver premium plus for piece of mind, revving around 6800 rmp, no smoke, screams like a banshee! its up to you what you feel comfortable with.

plus you are actually running lean if you over oil!!! 40:1 unless consistently above 7k

I never run a large bored outboard ( 3.500" bore ) motor less than 40:1 . Never seen a situation where you make power or add longevity by short cutting a motor of oil...50:1 is great on the smaller bore sized Mercs
( 2.4/2.0 liter ) but not the 2.5.....
My rule of thumb on my 2.5's is :
8000 rpm or less mix at 40:1
8000 rpm or more mix at 32:1
I also NEVER run a fully syn oil in any steel sleeved motor only a BLEND and then after its completely broke in..
