Crabbing issues on single engine boats

I hope I'm the right forum here. I seek enlightenment on the following:

To the best of my knowledge the Class2 monos (are they still racing as a class?) were about 32' UIM length, weighed around 6500-7500lb (depending on fuel load), were powered by 1100-1200hp diesels through fixed surface drives (and rudder steering), and were capable of approx 90-95 knots.

Was prop torque/crabbing a potential major problem?
If so, how did they deal with it?
What effect, if any would the rudder have vs an Arnesen or Mercrusier type set-up?
What would be the upper limit in terms of weight to power for a single engine / drive set-up?
How would boat handling / rough water performance compare with a 2 engine set-up (contra-rotating props) of similar power in the same hulls.

Apologies for the multiple questions and if my terminology is not up to scratch.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I've never had the pleasure of driving such a boat (assuming you're talking about the various Buzzis and copycat setups of the 90's) But watched many hours of them racing, often from a few away (as they overtook!). They certainly seemed to have some roll stability issues that needed keeping in check, as a few found out (the hard way), and even when all was ok, there seemed to be constant chine walking as part & parcel of the deal. However, don't think they looked to 'crab' much, mebbe the large deep rudder sorted that out.

They were certainly incredible in the rough when in the right hands.

Maybe someone who's had first hand experience could comment (PJD?)
