Question Engine/ Propshaft height?

what's the best propshaft height for choppy conditions?
We have a lifter so we can jack it up when its calmer and want top speed.
dictates weather we will need to cut transom down or not.
Thanks in advance
Ross

Thinking about it you will never run more than 2" above so i'd set it to take full advantage of being able to run as low as possible
