Evinrude 150HO propshaft hp ?

Hi guys !

What propshaft hp does this 150HO engine produce ?
Factory specs says "Horsepower Factory tuned for high performance"
But I want to know the actual rating or dyno test numbers.

Kind regards, T.

I doubt very much you will see a dyno chart for these. but by law in the good ole US of A, engines must/ can produce +/- 10% of the labeled HP with out fear of a lawyers letter!. so i guess a good estimate would be about 165 hp. but i also have been told that the fuel mapping on these are different to the standard 150. apparently the hp is higher in the rev range. also i think the gear box ratio is slightly diffferent on these motors.
Good luck
Paul

Indeed, the 150 HO only comes with
- 1.86:1 gear ratio (no choice for the 1.85:1 like the standard 150)
- 20" shaft (no choice for the 25" like the standard 150)

Other people also told me, that prop hp with these HO's is about +10% compared to the standard engines. But I didn't see any proven figures yet...
Also, the official EAME waterski racing rules for F3 specify a max hp rating at the prop of 150hp + 5% tolerance

Can you guys comment on this : is the 150HO allowed for F3 waterskiracing ?

Thanks !
T.

As you are in Belgium it would be worth asking Nico Bertels, he should know the rules.

the 150 ho as is the 250 ho are both ok in there classes in europe and in uk 150 f3 and 250 f2,there is at least 1 150ho racing in belguim and just look at the 250 hos in the uk,the belgium worlds team has 2 cyclones with 250hos on !! that must say something !! i would have a 250 ho over a 300xs anyday !!

I think it's just simple math in my view :

for F3 : 150+5% < 150+10% => the 150HO is not allowed in F3
for F2 : 300+5% > 250+10% => the 250HO is allowed in F2

All the teams were approved at the beginning of the season, let's not forget that. But I guess there could be a problem with current 150HO teams.

Although this post is about F3, I'll comment on the F2 engine remark.
The 300XS en the 250HO are indeed very competitive engines in the waterskiraces in Belgium... as it should be offcourse. It really is a sight to see ! Those engines weigh about the same. I've been told the 300XS doesn't deliver the promised 300hp and the 250HO is +275hp. As for torque ratings I can't seem to find them on the Merc and Rude websites but the rude has a bigger displacement.

Maybe it's a bit premature, but I wonder if Evinrude comes up with a 300HO (and I guess/hope they do) will this engine be allowed in F2 ?

Greets,
T.

as i said there is at least 1 ho racing in f3 in belguim or was last year ! so they have been allowed at a european cup event ! 1 ran at cardiff in gb at a european cup event ! therefore they are allowed in f3 for europe !!!!!!

OK Mike, I know the guys from this team personally. And actually I like watchin' them ski. The whole boat is technically in perfect shape and they have a stunning setup and top end speed. Their HO engine was measured at 150pk, which means they are ok.

This thread is not about a team, but about the question if the 150HO is within F3 technical rules or not. The 150HO normally has 165hp which is too much

Greets, T.

The 150 HO is under the KW rating as per EAME rules, and therefore the motor can be used in F3. This was officially substantiated at Cardiff Euro Cup last year, by 3 EAME scrutineers.
