Might wanna watch that then going by what I've read on OSO. I don't know if we have ethanol in our fuel in the UK yet, but it's melting tanks at an alarming rate, causing large black deposits on valves killing engines.
Tanks are also leaking causing a serious explosion risk and allowing the fuel to destroy the core of the boat, it's all pretty scary stuff!

As I say I don't know if this applies to us over here yet, but I'd look into it if I had a glass tank.

It will have an extra layer or two of fuel proof stuff over the hull - how old is your boat? As far as I'm aware they aren't allowed by CE regulations?

Hey guys, here in the States congressmen and lobbyist are trying to run a bill thru congress to raise the content of Ethanol in Fuel which is a real shame because Ethanol absorbs water like a sponge and talk about the controversy of even storing your fuel at the end of the season or how long you should let a partially filled tank sit before the fuel has started to go bad . Hey guys whatever the case Ethanol will effect us all weather you are a high performance boater or just a guy out with the family on a Sunday afternoon cruise .Just my 2 cents .

Even the petrol ones?

Ginger - At the moment we are luckier than you in the UK - we don't have the same issues with the fuel although it may only be a question of time!

any aluminum tank here in the US is about 12 dollars per gallon and is well worth the money compared to anything else.
They last for ever. Mine is in the boat since 1992 and when we rebuild the boat in 2007 we had it out and checked it , nothing ...absolutley nothing wrong with it , cleaned it up and coated the outside with some fancy primer stuff..and foamed her back in.
