Thanks for the offer Rossy - but I think they would'nt help the situation as one has to be rebuilt and am wondering if the transom might have to under go some modification as well.... I wait for advice from those who know better than me

Ive been in touch with Konrad Marine in the States and their PRS3 drive is a direct replacement for the #3's that we have, they can supply including shipping a complete brand new pair at the correct ratio for £15K is this the way to go bearing in mind that they are current stock and carry a warranty ??

Jon/Tony,
On a serious note, do you know what these drives are like, are they any good?

Hmm. Re-uses the SSMIII transom assembly, so your 15K just gives you the helmet & drive.
Their site also states no warranty.

I doubt that, I suspect you just dialled the phone number and asked the question. When you said the spec, they realised it's not a high performance install so are OK to warranty.

Even so if they are useless there is no point even thinking about getting them

Marty, These have been about a while now and they don't seem to have picked up a single bit of bad press.

They used to be on a lot of the oso boys wishlists but an option that was detered by cost so they have obviously got better pricewise.

Only thing I can see as potential pitfall is 2" reduction in 'x' dimension which may be a gain or not. So be prepared for a spacer to get back to original 'x' or extension boxes to set the drive back??????

At the price you are getting something brand new, backed by a company that built itself on manufacturing aftermarket parts for mercury failures. Just can't track down anyone who has used them racing although it seems a P1 boat was sponsored by Konrad last year. Anyone???????

Have you searched OSO for failure stories?
I know B-Max are getting a bad reputation these days - poor quality control etc.
