Honda remapping
Gentlemen,
Have a 32ft CC w/ 2 x 225 Honda, nosecones, lifts and Hydromotive props. Nice motors, especially on fuel, but a little sluggish. Does anyone know something about possibilities when it comes to remapping/ increase hp on these motors, like what/ who/ where? Would love to see 250+ on each, if possible.
Probably smarter to buy 250-300 E-tecs, but selling is always inconvenient.
Appreciate any help - thanks!
Br
Oyvind

You remember that? Thank you for feedback! Well, boat's still in operation, but not very much used, unfortunately. Have a total of 4 boats... Working on repowering the OX. Complete molds available though.
Have been busy trying to get investors, but have been involved in too many projects; have lately designed the ULSTEIN X-BOW, 2 aluminium MOB/ rescue boats, delivered several leisure boat hulls, and currently working on a 9.5m twin stepped RIB to be launched at the 2009 Miami boat show. Exciting but busy - just not enough time.

Looks like you are keeping busy then.
Who are you designing the stepped RIB for?
I am moving back to Norway around Xmas after 11 years in the UK.

Welcome back!
>Who are you designing the stepped RIB for?
You'll find out in February I reckon...
Can say it's an American boat manufacturer though.

225 ECU remapping
Best source of remapping Honda ECU from 225 upto 250 would be Shelley of the never post race checked boat.
There is in existance A hard to get Honda ecu programable.

I think you'll find Honda 225s are sluggish no matter what boat they are on
250-300 E-tecs Smarter

Often denied, but a different ecu is listed within the Honda internal parts lists.
Clearly a standard pleasure engine with warrenty is running with minimum stress etc.
Post race scrutineering - yeh really! Very picky series regarding who's ecu is changed before racing

Apologies to any honest scrutineering but clearly you can only deal with the info if you have it. There is within Honda's internal parts alternative ecu possibilities fact. Ask Honda direct to state otherwise, not F4SA.

Is the PCB in the ECU for these engines immersed in gel like the Jonnyrudes or can you open the casing and access the chips on the board? If so, pull it apart, take a good photo noting all numbers on the chips and post it up here.

Honda remapping
Gents,
Thanks for input; lots of opinions! Appreciated!
Anyway; not too many people use Hondas in HP applications... No wonder really, but I am still looking to increase mph on my CC.
I have tracked down a company over here currently investigating remapping Honda outboards, and they indicate between 15-30 hp gain. We run 95 oct fuel or better.
Setup is also an issue; currently my Hydromotive Quad 4 O/T's do a great job, but I would like your opinions on propellers and also speedrails.
Videos can be found here:
and here
As you see it developes a small porpoise at 60+ mph. My hope is that speedrails and maybe Hoss props or similar with a bit more bowlift can do the trick.
I love the hull (used to do a bit of racing back in the days, so really like V-bottoms), and it can handle a lot more power, but the Hondas have to stay where they are I reckon.

Could it be down to the nose having a little too much weight,
Although a bit crude to start with i have tried with sandbags to plan where weight needs to be taken from or added to, to balance the boat out, from this information you may find you need to move weight back or add a ballast tank up front.
If you are happy with the engine setup and props etc could be worth a try its worked for me in the past, before you start spending money,
Its a bigger boat than i've set up before but the principle should work,
What does everyone else think?

Moved back to the old-o-so-cold-country have we?
The financial situation in United States AND America - south of Canada, made the company decide to lay off some people; down to 4 from 22! Molds for hull, hatches and maindeck/ innerliner are made, the console remains. They do not have any debts, but want to delay the launch for I don't know how long. It was supposed to be launched with 2 Verado 350. They apparently have some connections to Merc (which by the way were 2 weeks on/ off the last 2 months before christmas.).
They attended the show in Miami with their current portfolio though.
Suppose they won't transfer any funds within short...
Anyway; update on the sluggish-Honda-remap-project;
the Honda ECUs are soon on their way to be remapped! The company doing the remap indicate 250-260 per unit, and also gives warranties against engine failure after remap, how 'bout that! Am a bit concerned if the engines get enough cooling water. Have low water pickups in the nosecones, but still. Need a new set of Hydromotives, though. Hydro recommend a pair of labbed Quad 4X 28'/ 29' rather than the Quad 4 to give more bowlift.
Hope you are all good!

Good to be back.

Nah, more like a CC with tubes and a large bolster. Am using the backwards sloping bow in many interesting projects though!
