How fast should an old 440 Kawasaki Stand up ski go?

I have an old JS440 stand up.
Just been rebuilt with new pistons and rings, carb cleaned, fresh plugs and fuel.

Runs sweet and ticks over nicely but takes about 10-15 seconds to get on the plane with me (16stone/of Muscle )

It Blue smokes a lot but compression and leak down tests are good.

I am only used to tuned 550's and more modern bigger hp ski's
It has standard as new Aluminum impeller

Hope someone can tell me weather or not they are supposed to be like this or has it a fault?...Apart from the obvious

Not very, not sure if the word fast and a 440 should be used in the same sentence had one years ago

standard ones are pretty dog slow but my old tuned 440 used to rip your arms off. What compression and leak down numbers did you come up with?

Hi Thanks for replies.

I have learned the 440 had 27hp.

Leak off was 85% Compression was 110PSI which for a single ring piston i thought was pretty good.

I have registered on PWC forums and had pretty much the same response...i.e. they are good for kids or a light adult.

Anyways it is for sale now as i am confident it goes like it should.

£450 Pics on request. Includes galvanized road trailer and all over cover
