How much fuel do you want??

Howdy all!

What would people recommend as a good size fuel tank for an R21?

gonna be running 200hp upwards and would ideally like it mounted at the back of the boat as the old one was mounted there and theres a nice big box to store the tank in...

The deck continues right up to the front of the boat, so it wouldn't be too hard to fit a tank in the bow either...

What do you all think would be a good size/location??

Cheers in advance,

Andy

My P21 with a 225X Promax has circa 120 litres

I've found thats plenty, I can "gun it" all day on a 60-70mile poker run and have enough spare.

I have a Ring 21 with 200 optimax and 100 litre tank. Have found that its plenty for a good day out. In my opinion if you have an older efi or carb motor fit the biggest fuel tank you can in the space you,ve got as they are more hungry.

Agree spot on with the above. I run a 100 litre tank with an opti 225 it is plenty with the more fuel efficient engines. Can get a couple of days out of mine if we stay out before a refuel.

My tank is also at back of boat which runs and handles well. If you havn't got much weight up front you may find a pair of trim tabs useful in the chop. There are some Ring 21s around with the tanks up front and they also run well like this. A friend of mine had the tank up front which did keep the nose down in the chop. The only drawback was suffering occasional split tank from the increased pounding at the front end of the boat.

From what I understand, for out and out performance you should put the weight towards the back of the boat.

Ah Awsome,

I'd thought the back would be the better option, theres already a space boxed out for it, so I guess I'll just find the biggest tank to fit the dimensions!

Thanks for all the replys!
