how to install a ski-pole on a Phantom 21ft ?

Hi everyone!

I'm thinking of installing a ski-pole on my P21.
Goal is to do some waterski-ing and wakeboarding for next summerseason.

I'd like it to be removable (as I know they exist on Bernico boats)
SS and smooth design
Portside or in the middle, haven't decided yet.

That will probably depend on how to anchor it properly, which is in fact my main question. Any example-pics of P21's, Bernico's or others with ski-poles would be great.

Thanks upfront ! T.

Had ski pole on my old p21. In centre behind rear bench seat.
Sika flex and coach bolts to floor.
Don't put it on the side as you will get a lot of side pull on the boat fro the skier.

Definitely keep the pole in the middle for recreational skiing. You won't be able to slalom or even play in a ringo without eventually breaking the cowling.

As I remember most P21's have a cross member bolted through the stringers across the top of the fuel tank and the bottom of the pole is anchored to that. The pole then passes through a ring in front of the engine well.

Thanks everyone !

gar163y : it seems that a centered mount is better. Do you have by any chance pictures of such a set-up on a P21 ? Or do you know anyone I could ask ? That would be great.

I'll post some pictures of the back of my boat next week. I have a small sundeck behind my backseat, so there's quite some space. Underneath the sundeck and behind the backseat there is a plastic fueltank fitted.

Hi Toffy, no pictures I'm afraid. I've never owned a Phantom just scrutineered shedloads over the years. In a raceboat the crossmember across the top of the tank also prevents the tank from moving but obviously plastic tanks are different.

I think there's a really old thread with badboys phantom 21 on here somewhere. That's got a few pics that might help although his cam up through the engine well.
Search for badboy and you should find it.
Cheers
