Question How to set Mercruiser control cable ?? Urgent

My friend...really not me.... has a problem with his 4.3 mercruiser on an alpha one leg.

What is the correct procedure for setting the cables?

He can get reverse, but its hard, and then really tough to get out, plus no throttle in reverse.
Going forward is fine.

The boat has a single lever control, its a 91 regal 19 with a 190 4.3 carb motor.

Help really appreciated,
Thanks,

Adrian.

There's a plastic tool which locates over the mounting stud and the cast lever on the shift bracket, with this in place you adjust the short cable between the shift bracket and outdrive until it's anchor barrel locates in the mount.

Then adjust the cable from shift bracket to control box in the same way.

TD may have a spare tool he could send you, if not, I have one, but would need you to send it back to me, as it's the only one I have.
