Hull Mould Life Span.

A question for all you boat builders out there.

What is the lifespan of a hull mould? Either in number of takes or years in outside storage.

Thanks in advance.

The Phantom 18 moulds were made in 1973, and a good few hundred boats have been produced from them and they're still going strong.

Of course, they were probably quite well looked after.

so many factors - quality of moulds, system used, storage etc - but generally if moulds are looked after then the life of the mould wil out-live the production life of the boat - at least in the powerboat world where real mass rarely seen.
