in need of some advice

hi

i know its not in the same class as most of the boats on here but i need some technical information that hopefully some of you will beable to advise on.

i have a regal 2850 lsc with a mercruiser 350 mag and bravo 3 leg which i am considering repowering for a diesel.

firstly is this even possible?, what is involved and could i keep the current leg etc to keep the cost down?

any views on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
nick

re-powering

hi ya.

yeah i believe it's possible to re power your craft with a diesel what engine you got in mind? firstly tho you may need to consider the following before deciding..

what engine will fit in the hole
Where your engine beds are located as these may need to be moved.
The bravo 3 leg fits a variety of engines. I.E the yanmah 6lp.
You may need to change the transom shield to the correct one for the installation

others may be able to shed some more light but also think about how the increase in weight will affect the boat. Is your fuel system suitable?? etc etc

Hi ,

I used to own a 2850lsc with a volvo penta 7.4 v8 ,with a duoprop leg ,I repowered it with a volvo penta 5.7gxi ,10 hp down on the 7.4litre but much lighter block, more economical by far ,and better rpm range.

I dont see any reason why you cannot repower with a diesel outside of the expense of the engine ,which engine are you looking at ? and what is the reason why you are repowering ?

hi thanks for the replys guys

was considering repower purely due to cost of running. for what we use it for its just far too expensive to run.

i have been trying to sell it and swap for something more economical but the money it looks like i would have to loose to get rid of it is just crazy plus havnt had much interest.

i bought the boat brand new and its only done less than 100 hours so its really still like new. just seemed like maybe a viable idea to keep the boat and make it more economical.
