taz take heads off and make sure reed hasn't gone through engine and damaged rings,heads and block.

Roofer dude the reed hasnt broke up its just craked plus my compression is all good so i cant see any reasen in wipping the heads off.

I lost about half a petal, Id still take heads off, £60 for gaskets or maybe new engine,Iknow which id choose.

I thought the point of having plastic/carbon reads over metal ones is that if a bit breaks off then the motor just eats it and spits it out.

my boyesen reed went through engine broke rings,scored bore and wrecked 1 head,I had damaged piston replaced and block horned out,new high compression heads fitted,went out to run it in and blew engine to feckin bits.

Yeah but Hutchy rebuilt it and he knows his stuff.
Anyways my reeds are ok its the block there mounted to that isnt and thats metal it must have done the same to roofers and maybe when he went to run it in, some more of the reed let go and bang.

compression was 150 on all cylinders and i always run on optimax.

Roofer, did ya adjust the timing or mixture with the new heads?
Do (did) you have egt gauges?
