Did some googling and it seems that the above comments are mirrored.
ie that a) The machine mart tool is fine, but a bit limited in some areas as noted by jw plus also some of the feeds are a bit course.
b) There's quite a few machines (searching around the periphery from marc's links) of a similar type, so a good ghoice of brands & tools etc.
I'd like a traditional machine like myford etc but really can't afford the space, or transport hassles it'd cause - unless of course the "right" deal turned up.
And Chris, the reason why I don't want to bond the screen in is that it's impossible to work on the dash, foot pedals etc at all with the screen in, plus the screen is already drilled. So I want to be able to remove it reasonably easily. I accept that in an ideal world, a bonded in screen is superior since it completely removes the possibility of notch stresses occuring on the screen.
Thank you all for the wonderful responses.

Screwfix is Ok but it's only really mild tool porn where as the others are definitely hard core red hot dutch stuff

Nah ,they are all flash boilers, computer control and turbines. No coal or sticky steam oil in sight. To be real steam power with soul you need solid fuel and pistons.

I am sure friends favours can get the gears transported around from the wild west to up north without cost. Just time.
