Merc OB wiring loom/temp wires

ok, no doubt easy question/answer for someone but.....
I,ve done the wiring on the bernico myself over the last week as once I had a look seemed pretty straight forward. All the pumps, intercoms, trim tabs are all working fine, even the engine fired up quick which made me feel bearing in mind it hadnt been started for a number of years but....I have fixed the tan(brown) wire to the temp gauge sender point (is this right?) but am left with the tan(brown)/blue wire. I'd like to put this on a simple overheat red light so do I just plug that into one terminal on the light with the other going to earth?
Hope that makes sense?? Is the plain tan(brown) correct goign to the sender point?
cheers
Dan

From memory, tan to the buzzer and tan/blu to the gauge.

Easy figure out with a multimeter and a lighter
