Mercruiser 5.7l v8 Exhaust getting hot

I have a mercruiser 5.7 v8 the port exhaust gets hotter than the starboard exhaust is cool there is plenty of water going in to the manifold there are restrictor gaskets fitted to the 3 " spacer what would happen if these were removed and normal gastkets fitted to check the flow of water going into the riser to see if that would keep the exhaust cooler? Ive removed the manifold and riser to try and clean out the best i can but its pretty much impossible
many Thanks Sam

Check it again at speed. It's probably only doing it at idle, due to the sprung loaded non return balls atop the thermostat housing. one always opens a bit easier/before the other. once going (or revving in neutral) at speed the flow will open both sides. the two manifolds are fed via these spring loaded things, when one doesn't open much at idle, that side gets hotter, its no big deal.
