Bought the mota last april..it had been stood a while...was coughing &spluteering on tickover...got hutchy to service it & clean the carbs....much better after that but it still smokes & tickover is erratic...i run it on quicksilver At 50:1
Not really a problem cos it runs perfect otherwise...just a bit annoying at times
Im running it on a fletcher 16 gto so it is a bit skitty at top end but its great for pulling mono skiers...
Im thinking of a phantom 18 & putting it on that....is this a good idea!!

What i mean is...is this a good combination or would i be dissapointed with the performance...would i be better off selling this engine & putting something else on the Phantom ....or buying a phantom that is already rigged up.
My thoughts are that i already know this engine and its better the devil u know etc

Your engine is the 8334th one built in the year 1590

Phantom 18 or 20 would be a good boat with a 200 on

Silly question time:

What's the difference between a Mercury 150 Black Max and a Mariner 150 Magnum?

I don't know anything whatsoever about the Mariner, but it looks and awful lot like a Black Max only painted grey!

Are they any good? They seem like a lower cost alternative to a Merc, but I don't want to buy one if they're in the 'Force' and 'Seagull' league of Tesco Value Outboard with the blue and white striped cowl!

Cheers!
