Morse / Pre-mix advice
have a couple of questions that i could do with some advice on..
1: Whilst rigging the bat i have used standard ASAP supplies 33c red coat morse cables but now notice that they also do "supreme" red coat 33c's at about 75% extra £££, can anybody confirm whether they are much smoother than standards or should i be using something completley different to make the throttle as smooth as poss for Ashleigh
2: What 2 stroke oil would you reccomend to pre-mix for a Yam 90 and at what ratio so as not to self destruct in our first test / race
Adrian

You will not "self destruct" a Yam 90, unless you do silly things with it!
Use a decent 2 stroke oil and run between 33-1 to 50-1.
As for the cables make sure you allow them to travel freely, in a 3B boat, buy a longer cable for the foot throttle and run it into the front of the boat and "loop" back again.
Make sure that when you fit the cable, the foot throttle is well secured, and the Morse cable doesn't take any strain / friction.

On another note - Most Important! Make sure your daughter is comfortable, with her seating position, being able (physically) to depress the foot throttle for an hour or so, knows where the trim buttons are etc.

I've never liked the Morse cables, especially the red's. Often found them to be stiff when high effort is required.
The far cheaper, and easier bending, not to mention smoother, lighter operation Ultraflex cables have always proved very reliable. They do a 'low friction' varient, that I think is PTFE lined or something. Had the Ultraflex cables on my 28 for 8 years now, never had problem with them.
When we first rigged the Extreme 26 for the '95 season, the throttle & gear controls were very stiff indeed. We had used the Morse RED's, in the heavy duty option. Changing to Ultraflex sorted it all out.
Ask 'Mamboking' about his gear control cable, he had the same issues.

thanks John, i had run a new 5.5m with very gentle loops but although useable for me was still quite stiff and thought Ashleigh might struggle with it.

Sorry Adrian, no, but to be honest, just the std U-F cables will be a mile better than the red Morse, and a lot cheaper. the ones on my 28 are I think std U-F.
They may not offer the option anymore, might be that all the UF stuff is low friction now. Tis a long time since we did the E26 raceboat.

That's what I tend to use now, although I get mine from Aquafax.
