Offshore legs again!

All this talk of offshore legs has got me thnking.

I have an old OS leg and saddle which came with a 2.4 carb I bought for the powerhead a few years ago. The leg was in reasonable shape but is missing the trim ram and offboard trim pump.
What is there stopping me from fitting it to a standard saddle clamp with inbuilt trim ram/pump?

The leg is buried under a pile of rubbish and undergrowth but I will fire up the landrover and have a hunt for it tommorow.

If you can remove the bolts that I could not that it should bolt to your standard saddle.

I've found vinegar and a little heat might help if the bolts are seized.

The clamp isnt as strong as the offshore one but fitting an offshore leg doesnt make it weaker (the OS legs isnt really any heavier) so if it was strong enough for your application before then it still will be.

depends on why you want an offshore leg.
noise or extra strength

Saves you the trouble of fitting solid bushes to your standard midsection too which is allways a plus!!!

I have fiteed a few os legs to standard saddels,
the only problem you face is the steering tube that runs down inside the saddle is longer on the os leg about 45mm than a standard leg. to get over this problem you will need to make 2 spacers 1 30mm for the top and one at 15mm for the bottom this will allow it all to fit it takes a bit of paticence but it works well.
good luck.
