Yes you can remove the fuel pump and just block up the two holes that go into the crankcase which pulse the fuel pump.
Then fit an electric pump in the boat, but many people like to use the dia/pumps.

The pumps on the side of the motor are great! I know a good few people who have had problems with an electric pump, me included, but none who have had issues with the block mounted effort, nothing but a bit of rubber to go wrong! May be worth considering keeping it. As Maz said though, it's all just personal preference really!

Glad to hear you're binning the oil injection, those 2.5 200's are amazing motors, i've been campaigning this for some time now! Don't rev the tits off it and it'll be great!

if i was to keep the pump on the block, would i just need a bulb primer?
im putting light flywheel and 16 amp stator, and skimming the heads too.
so should go pretty well.

Yeah you will need a primer bulb or pump. They really are cracking motors, mine made a huge difference compared to the xr2 on my first cat.
Are you rebuilding the motor? I hear it's been sat more then just a little while, which could cause all kinds of issues. Just using it as is would be a bit risky IMO.

The boat has not been raced for a while Larby but the motor has been regularly run oiled and inhibited properly.
If I had any doubts on it I would not have got it ready for the race in June, as a qualified marine engineer there is no issues regarding that motor so wherever you are obtaining your info can only serve to scare Shaun when he should just be looking forward to getting his boat back and running

That's cool, glad to hear it's all good. I wasn't trying to scare or anything, hence I posted it openly, just being straight, as usual.
Hope I didn't cause any offence
