P18 transom

Hi, does anyone know whats going on with this transom, and if its safe?
Its a P18 with a yamaha 225.

Seen this done many times, it is basically extra bracing for the transom. The only problem is that it has to be a solid bar and NOT cable. If it is cable the transom can still flex.

Just look around the transom and look for any signs of movement i.e. cracked gel coat

It looks like another transom fixed onto the inside of the original transome? Forgive my stupidness if im wrong

I think that is the standard thickness but it has been stepped to allow clearence when the engine is tilted up, How low is your anti cav' plate, from the picture it looks like you could raise the engine a bit
