Prop Vibration?

A prop question for all you experts out there.....I recently splashed out on a new stainless prop (MirageII) to replace the aluminium one, and I now have a vibration through the steering at speed. I put the old one back on and vibrations gone!!
Could a new prop be that far out of balance? and how would it be fixed?
Any ideas???

Mike

If the prop was "new" have you checked to see if your shaft is straight ? stainless is a lot heavier than ali

Do you get the vibration all the time at speed, or just when the boat is close to leaving the water?

I tried Mirage Plus's on my boat, and though it's quicker than with the Bravo 1's, and runs more level, the vibration whenever the boat is either very near to leaving the water, or actually taking flight, is awful. real shame as the speeed and handling benifits are cool.

It's a bit of a mystery, as I've now tried two sets, and they were both exactly the same. I put it down to the 3 blades rahter than 4 (on my setup) but Roger Severy's P28, with the same drive height & centres, doesn't seem to suffer with it when running the Mirages (one of the sets I tried was his set)

As I say, quite a mystery and rather annoying, as the other set I tried I had bought! (new!)

Actually, I don't think I want, need, nor intend to argue with you. And I'm certainly not interested in your opinions on technicalities.
