Smile Rebuild and mod 4.3 v6 can you help/advice please

I have a volvo 4.3 190 gl from 2002, its stuck and needs rebuild or replacement.
Can i improve performance when i rebuild is it worth changing heads cam or swapping the 2 barrell for a 4 barrel. w

What is most economic way to add a bit more hp say 220-250

Or should is pop in a v8.

It has the base penta leg.

Where do i go for bits?

Appreciate a bit of help.
Thank you.

350 minus 2 Holes

This one can get expensive ! Putting 50hp into the package may not be difficult, the only items that may hold you back are the exhaust risers and will the leg handle the extra grunt ? ( I don't do Volvo Legs ) These V6s will go to 300 + with the right bits.
Lots of sneaky H.P. gains to be had but you will need the right human to build the engine. Remember "you can eat all day long" but if the exhaust "don't work" "Game Over" !
Good old USA for the parts.
Edlbrock do all the top end breathing stuff and Summit Racing will supply, but shop around performance warehouses. Do not buy from different warehouses shipping costs could overtake deal saving.
Dropping in a 350 will get you to the numbers you want but you will add the best part of 150 pounds weight and you will need the complete package. Pan to Hat including Exhaust Risers. Remember the 350 will be around 5" longer, will the cover fit ? and can the Gimbal drive shaft be shortened around 2.5" or engine mounts will need to be modified.
For Me I would just put on the 4 barrel set up and then spend lots of hours just making everything else work better and correct. May get cam ground to bigger spec and would look at MSD Billet Distributor set up and junk the stock unit.

Out of interest whats the difference between the 5.0 and 5.7. Is it just crank? Or bores? or totally different?

4.3 V6 Upgrades 350 minus 2 holes

Small block V8 Stellings on a V6 ! Nice bits of kit but the obvious ! Yep can fab them for you. What cam fitted ? whats the minimum planing RPM ? whats the max RPM WOT from standstill ? 4 branch or try "Y" ? Stepped or Straight primaries ? double skinned ? how much room in the engine bay ? Speed costs money how fast do you want to go or talk. Im at 273 on tarmac, 108 liquid.

"So little time to live so much speed to achieve"

"To learn how to Win you have to learn How to Lose"

300/350 difference 1/2" taller block deck.
