Rev Counter Fault

I stupidly left the ignition switched on my boat which eventually flatened the battery, fortunately I don't seem to have damaged any ignition parts and engine runs fine but the rev counter now starts from 3,000 revs upwards,I did have a rectifyer failiure before but the Rev counter stopped completely then,Any advice?
