Ringed heads, A viable option?

Im trying to make my mind up on opting for ringed billut cylinder heads, for a standard 260. I have thought of going down the skimming route, but dont rearly want to increase the chance of poping the motor, though Im thinking of porting, also chopping the tuner at the chest+of course the ringed heads, thinking it would give me better cooling/reliability, in the high rpm range?

can someone please help/advise.

Graham.

Word, ma homies. Peace be upon y'all.

To Pope or not to Pope. That is the question. When I recently appeared on Pope My Ride (Vatican MTV) I was faced with a similar dilemma.
My Cardinals debated and eventually decided that high compression in itself will not necessarily destroy an engine on its own. It may well hole a piston or two though. Could you not use a thicker head gasket to decrease the compression ratio?

God bless you all.

If by ringed heads you mean O'ringed then they are for the 280 not the 260. What would you achive by fitting billet heads with standard compression? As far as I know 260's don't suffer from head cooling problems.

What are you thinking of porting?

What do you mean by chopping the tuner at the chest?

Burty
I just thought o-ringed heads ran alot cooler, or so Dimond Marine claim?

They make them for all 2.5's, or so I understand. I just thought it would be better than skimming, and risking the chance of blowing my investment, and want to run as reliable as poss, with porting as well, Im only pushing an 18 so I dont think the low to mid rang toque that would be lost would hert that much?, and as for the tuner, sorry I ment chop the neck.

Thanks grez. PS. I carn't afford a 280

Thanks Burty!

As fare as the heads Johnny, I didn't no they did, or didn't have a problem with overheating. I just thought using cooler heads wouldn't do any harm.

They'll also skim them for you if ya will, but still have better cooling all the same, there abit steep though at $775+all that import duty S**T you have to caugh up..

Thanks again Grez.
