Salty engine

I've been having no end of trouble with my trim motor/pump so at great expense I've renewed both pump and motor along with two new solinoids. The brand new pump which took three weeks to come over from Fort Lauderdale had a small hole in the casing which dripped hydraulic fuid and went off like an aerosol when the pump started working. Tim at 'The Engine Room' came up trumps and got me a replacement within a week which I fitted today and seems to work fine (no leaks).
The boat is at Littlehampton about fifty miles away so what with waiting around for parts and finding the time to get down to work on her, I have'nt been down much over the last couple of months and I found the inboard engine has quite a bit of salt all over everything I tried to clean most of it off but it is stubbon stuff in small areas for cleaning. It also locked up the alternater which did not turn when I had a test start up and burnt out the drive belt. WD40 fixed the turn problem and a new belt fitted all is now well, but I still can't get rid of the salt from large areas.
Is there a spray that is a good solvent for salt? I don't fancy spraying WD40 over all the engine as I can see me having problems cleaning that off after. I was thinking of brake cleaner as that evaporates and is prety cheep to buy.
Any ideas?

It certainly looks good stuff and especially if you have wet exhaust systems.

No UK dealer listed in international distributers - surely an openning for some astute chap looking for a new niche in the marketplace.

I initial thought it came in dry form, thinking you could have it posted easy. This is another similar product. and available in the UK

Just tried out a few experiments in the kitchen involving table sea salt, the micro-wave a plate and different stuff in the cleaning cupboard (yes I do know where it is) .

My hot tip is dishwaser rinse aid. Forget brake cleaner, great on oil useless on salt. The rinse aid shifts baked on sea salt no problem, and dare I say leaves a lovely streak free finish.
