Seized flywheel

We have sheared one 16mm bolt with our flywheel puller/engine lifting eye.

We have tried using a 450nm impact wrench, this squashed the insert between the 16mm bolt and the crank. We then 5x 2p pieces instead of the insert, they are squashed through, so we tried with just two 2p pieces. They now look like a wheel rim, joined in the middle and the outside edges bent out wards by 5mm each side :/ cannot separate them.........gods knows what mr Patel in the corner shop will say when we try buying ice poles later!!!

So any ideas anyone?????

When I remove flywheels I screw the puller in the flywheel then tighten down the 16 mm bolt tight then hit the bolt with big hammer tightening the bolt when there is movement the flywheel will pop all of a sudden!! That's how it's done!!!
I will call you about flywheel tomorrow!
Cheers hornet!

Do you have use of a (large) ultrasonic cleaner and a chain hoist,if so suspend the block and lower it in the tank until just the flywheel is covered and give it 30 mins on clean and have another go with the puller, try a SS ball bearing for an insert.

Think your going to need heat, and possibly lots of it. If you cant get a bearing puller, then could also use some thread lube like ARP bolt lube. Thats a crazy amount of force if you have stripped that nut.

you need to bang it down onto the taper 1st as crazy as it sounds with a few good blows...very very hard to pull off a seized taper.

I had the flywheel puller done up nice and tight with the center bolt in and tightened and hit that. Not really hard but fairly firmly.

I bought a 10 ton puller with three legs.

Had to place floor board nails under the puller feet to put the pressure behind the teeth on the ring gear.

Thankfully I put the crank nut back on loosely, as it shot up denting the compressor wheel and peeling metal off the outside edge of the crank nut!!! One of the ( floor board nails) cut nails hasn't been seen since, although I have heard reports of a small hole in the international space station :/
