It's all in the leg - it's to low.

I had a 25" leg on a 225Opti P21 and also experienced a lot of "walk" at speeds above 70.. I raised the engine to the highest point (bolt/hole) and it helped a bit but i was seriously leaning over/in while turning - felt like the engine could tip over the boat.!
You also have rubber motormounts that could have alots of play in them..

I changed to a 20" leg and the walk is still there but not servere and loads more controlable - putting on a hydraulic lift later.. Also have solid motormounts..

The reason why your old Ring 18 didn't chine was probably becuase the speed wasn't high enough

Thanks for the advice Lars

Much appreciated mate - not sure about the speed of the ring 18 though - she was running a 200hp 2.4 and felt bloody fast to me - just stable. Fuel tank was bow mounted in the 18 also.

I think that engine height may be the issue though. The prop runs very low in the water similar pic that taz has posted. The bullet is well below the bottom of the hull.

Bullet is too low and the leg/prop is trying to lift the entire hull out of the water.

The bowtank will surely cost you the top end ## - but if you use it in rough water it might be worth it..

I've got a 20" offshore mid section that is surplus to my requirements if you need one.

No it won't fit.
Your block has a diffenrent stud pattern.

You could look on Scream and fly for a 15 or even 12" midsection, I have seen a few on there in the past.

You could also cut down your mid section and have your gear box input shaft cut and re-splined.

This would need to be done by a very good fabricator in order to maintain the strength, I would also try using the saddle from a 20" offshore mid section to save modifiying yours.

Re: P21

Hi!

I am also more or less sure the xl midsection making a problem. The propshaft is very low, and at this low point, the prop makes lot of torque. If possible, I would buy a powerlift with 4-5 inch of setback. Then you play with engine height and get control over the chinewalk. Typical proshaft height will be 2-2,5 inches below. Now it seems to be 4-5 inches below.

I had a 25 inch midsections for some few months on my Promax 300, and the boat chinewalked a little despite using powerlift. I could not get the engine high enough. I swopped to a 20 inch midsection, jacked up the propshaft to 2 inches below. Running on rails. However, I have a P25 so its may be a different story.

Good luck!

Cheeeers, Toffen G
