I am also more or less sure the xl midsection making a problem. The propshaft is very low, and at this low point, the prop makes lot of torque. If possible, I would buy a powerlift with 4-5 inch of setback. Then you play with engine height and get control over the chinewalk. Typical proshaft height will be 2-2,5 inches below. Now it seems to be 4-5 inches below.
I wouldn't go for the jackplate solution, it does make the boat wobble some when it's jack up there because of the long leg.. theres an P20 here in DK with this solution, and he's going for a 20" leg..

my propshaft ain't much more than 1 inch below..

Re: Re: P21

Hi!

Agree with that since the center of gravity will be lower, and less stress on the transom. When I bought my P25 I had a Evinrude V8 300 hp on it with a 20 inch midsection mounted directly on to the 25 inch transom. Worked just fine.

Glad to hear your old rig handled well Doc.

Guess who bought it off Brett?

Yep. Me!

Hello Mate

I see that from your previous threads. She's a good solid rig and is very well balanced.

Best of luck with her mate. Sorry to hear about the trailer bearings. They should be easy enough to replace though and all in all its a very solid twin axel trailer. Would cost a fortune to replace!

Enjoy

The doc

She'll be even better when I've finished with her. Seastar, new clocks, VHF/DSC and some cosmetic tweaks. I'll probably rebuild the old trailer at some point being as a new one will cost me the thick end of two grand!

Doubtless we'll meet up next year and you can see what you think.

Sorry to hear about all the grief you're getting with the 21. I recall Brett saying that he had his doubts about the height of the leg at the time. Still, if there's any way around it, the guys on here will know.

Good luck!

No need to be sorry mate - it aint giving us any grief?

The motor runs as sweet as a nut and the hull is an absolute minter.

Were just used to having a boat that is very very easy to drive at speed, where as our new one is a bit more tricky and requires more skill and driver input.

Hope all the plans with the 18 come to fruition. Sounds like youve got a lot planned for her. Be good to see some pics when work commences

Cheers mate
