Snap On Timing Light Query

Hi I have been trying do time my XR2 motor using the red type 'Snap On' timing light.when the motor is running the digital display on the light goes haywire and appears a very eratic strobe light. Is there an isue using these?as I have read some adverts for stobes that specify four stroke and two stroke.I tested the light on my car and it was fine.Do I just need a basic timing light ? Nic

Yeah just use a basic timing light. I have both the digital and basic, my digital does the same as yours.
