That's the original Hynautic system from way back when, as fitted to most of the multi engine racing Phantoms etc. from the 80's.

It has a vessell with a shraeder valve in the top, which is pumped up with an airline. The pressurised system won't allow bubbles to form in the fluid, or any air to be drawn in anywhere. As long as the gauge says what it should before a race, evertin is coool man.

Never used it myself, but am told by the folk who did, that it was excellent.

neil Holmes will be able to explain it's workings in detail, he probably rigged and raced a gazillion boats with it.

I think is simpler than an accumulator, no membrane within as far as I'm aware. Just a pressurised reservior to stop aereation of the hydraulic fluid.

Air in the system makes it stiffen up (although I can´t explain why). Some will purge any bubbles out with use, but apparently some don´t.
