Hi Dan,
I have been unable to track down a supplier of hose inserts so we are having a batch made, the thread size is 3/8 UNF and the pipe has a double flare on the end. As the tube is not thick enough wall to stand the hose swage pressure they need to be made in 2 pieces and TIG welded together.

Regards
Peter

Ok, thanks for that. Is that the same thread for both merc trim hoses and steering hoses? Guess I could go oversize and use a reducer down to 3/8" or get small lengths of solid bar turn to suit then bored but at under 10mm like you say theres not much meat left.

The technical term for those fittings are called " bulk head fittings " if you go to a search engine to look for them..

hoses and bulk head fittings

Try Hypromarine in Lymington, they have just supplied me with Seastar Pro helm and all the kit with bulk head fittings, off the shelf and delivered here to Mallorca in 2 days.
They can make hoses to the length you want aswell.
