Trailers & Propellers
Trailers & Propellers
A couple of questions please, firstly Trailers, does anyone know how much a trailer service should cost I have a single axel braked Fletcher trailer about 3 years old, or is this something you can do yourself if so has anyone got a guide on how to setup the brakes where to grease and check the bearings etc. (doing a long trip to Devon soon).
Secondly propellers, found this website on the net http://www.steeldevelopments.co.uk/ are they any good is their an alternative? I am looking for a steel prop for my Yam 100HP fours stroke, will it make any difference on my boat in terms of speed / acceleration? She does 35- 37mph at 6000 rpm with the standard prop, basically is it worth spending £300 on a new prop?
Thanks as always guys!

I paid about 150 squids for my service, I have it done every year.
Never had any problems on the road since I started a regular service schedual.
Before this I was stranded in Spain & had to wait 4 days for the next boat!
Get it done mate, or you'll be sorry sooner rather that later.
Mike K (on here) reckons Steel Developments are OK. I prefere the Pro Boys in Poole, I'll dig the name & number out if your interested.

If the prop you are buying is on a like for like basis it wont make much if any performance increase, if I was you i'd save the £300 and put it in your fuel tank.

If your seeing 6K rpm at the moment I wouldn't have thought you'd want to go down in pitch.

Hi Stewart, try this web site if you are interested in doing the service yourself. Helped me out.
http://www.ntta.co.uk/law/index.htm
Lots of usefull info there.

By the way, your a bad influence.
2 minutes of holding your nipper on Sunday and Taz gets the family man bug and puts his Phantom up for sale.
I dont know how you sleep at night...
