Trim pump help please

Have got a metal type power trim pump but i cant get it to pump the motor runs when u trim down but when you trim up it clicks is this right? also have taken hoses off and its not pumping any fluid

Help please

If it clicks and dosent run its probially the up, blue wire, selonoid packed up.

If you put a live feed to the blue wire the pump should work. If it runs down it should run up.

There is no coloured wires, I am just trying to make a loom up Live switch to selonides which way up is the pump supose to sit? hoses at bottom or top?

Have i wired the pump up right? will it make any diff if it upside down? i still dont know why the pump only runs one way. Bloody thing

There should be two feeds and one earth. The motor runs in reverse by changing poles. Are you still running it through the selonoids?

I have connected a live via a switch to the two solonod bolts ie 1 live to each solonod the little nuts next to the big ones. The only earth i have connected is on the pump. Have i done something wrong how should it be wired?

Take the battery negative to the body of the pump. Take the battery positve to one of the large studs on each solenoid. The second large stud on each solenoid should have a wire going to the motor all ready installed, one is green (down) one is blue (up). On each solenoid take one of the small studs to the battery negative or the body of the pump. Switch a positive onto the other small stud on each solenoid in turn (not at the same time) to go either up or down.

On mine I have a piece of three core mains cable running to from the switch to the pump. The brown wire is connected to one of the large studs on one of the a solenoids (stud connected to battery positve) and takes a positive feed to the switch common I/P. The blue wire goes from one of the switch O/P's to the small stud on the solenoid with the blue motor feed wire. The earth wire (which is kinda green init) goes from the other switch O/P to the small stud on the other solenoid with the green motor feed wire.

Right so you switch the lives to the small nuts? both take live power and not earth?

There are two small nuts on each solenoid one is permanently wired to battery negative and you switch the live to the other. Only switch a live to one solenoid (small nut) at a time or you will melt something.

Yeah i have a telflex switch on the steering wheel i think my pumps shot i cant see why oh it did come from hutchy with my engine i think ive mounted the pump upside down as the pipes arent long enough for my jackplate. The pump turns with one solonoid live but when i put a live on the other solonoid it clicks but pump doesnt do anything doh

Some times solenoids click but there still not working. If you put a wire across the two large nuts on the faulty solenoid does the pump run. If so your solenoids knackered. If not try connecting a wire straight from the battery positive to the wire going from the faulty solenoid to the motor. If it still doesnt run then it looks like the motors had it.

I tried by passing the solonoid pump didnt run and da spanner sparked good doh But how can the pump run one way but not the other?

I think the motor uses seperate windings for up and down as it has three wires an common earth, up and down. Therefore your up winding may be short circuit to earth.

You could messure it with multimeter set to ohms. Be aware however that a good healthy winding may only be a few ohms. Measure the down wire to earth (good winding) and compare it with the up wire to earth (possibly bad winding). I would expect the good one to be a few ohms maybe 10's of ohms and a the bad one if it is bad to be an ohm or less.
