Trim senders faulty...again

I seem to replace my leg trim senders every 2-3 years....and it's getting a bit boring and expensive.

Any tips for getting more life out them?

Any non-OEM systems that are better than stock Mercruiser?

Any way to test the old ones, once they're off, to find where the problem is? Current symptom is that the legs move but the dials don't...boatward have tested and say "bad senders"

if it's an alpha or bravo leg i'm sure you can take them apart and clean them, thats if it's not fried

Sorry, yes - schoolboy error: pair of Bravo 3 legs on 37 footer.

Problem is taking all four off, strip, clean, back on...doesn't give me a great feeling that they will last forever...if OEM lasts 2-3 years my recon might only last another 12 months??

Costs are:
---Haul out £200 (might be able to do a deal to leave it in the slings and in/out in a day)
---Couple of hours labour to do both drives probably another £200
---VAT

Suddenly sounds like the thick end of £500

Actually another £100 for another pair set of senders (4 in all) isn't the problem....it's all the other costs.

Especially as she has already been out in December for antifoul etc.
