trim tabs

if trim tabs are fitted to a boat its usually to counter act a nosey boat or one that leans, but can they have the opposite effect and actually lift a boats nose more than its maximum trim out without tabs?

Arneson Rocker Plates

I don't know if these ever worked, maybe in flat calm, but don't see how they could in any rough stuff!

Jon, do you know of any success with these?

I don't know anyone who has them no, but ski race boats have used that idea for years, and it isn't really any different to a regular tab in principle, it just has the added advantage that instead of a nasty hinged corner at the transition from hull running surface to tab control surface, which can't be good for flow, it sweeps into the control surface, almost like changing the actual shape of the aft running surface. much more efficient I would have thought, ie, more lift from the tab with less drag.
