TRS Drives
Hi, I want to strip the "years" of different paint, from my drives, before installing them. I believe they were both overhauled recently, so no "repair" parts needed but I guess there will be a few seals and gaskets, to seperate each section and replace them. Any suggestions? Anyone got a manual for them? Any suggestion for the primer and finish paint?
Thanks
Pete

I would use a good gasket maker ( silicone type ) , on the primer u NEED to use aluminum chromate...to protect the aluminum from the saltwater..or an epoxy based primer and paint.
Fill all the nicks ( if any ) with an epoxy gel..like J-B Weld .

Thanks, I was thinking of 2 pack auto paint, for the finish. I take note of the primer you mentioned. Not sure about the gasket material because, from what I can see, from the "bad" pictures, most sections are sealed with circular seals??? If I can find a manual, or parts list, it would be clearer.
Thanks
Pete

I didn't have much to do with TRS.. so i can only imagine you mean the o- rings...just get o ring mat and build them ..no biggy.
On the manual i can only tell u to log on to offshore only dot com.
ask there or find TRS info.....mobil merc man on serious is well known and driveguy on there knows it 100%
regular 2 part paint will work, but not for long...paint is not waterproof and the salt will eat it up quick !!!

Thanks for the tips, I´ll start searching. The problem here is, it´s almost imposible to source things that are normal use, anywhere else. I can´t even find a supplier for gasket material, for the drive to transom.
Thanks again.
Pete
