update on my balls up..

ok a kinda roll on from this thread..

rip the heads off today and in a way i got off very light indeed,number3 has took a bashing and a blessing in disguise that it nipped up and stopped further damage to the motor..the other 5 has got through with no marks what so ever so 1 piston and re-ring the rest is looking good the sand had packed every orifice in the jackets and set like a casting mould plus its more than likley packed into the water tube and pump which will also need relacing. Glad it aint a 2.5 as ide be looking down the barrel of a new powerhead now

if the grooves are not too deep you can clean the bore with muratic acid
too remove the aluminium of the piston
change the piston and rings
how did so much sand come in this engine
must be long running with Cle low water pickups burried in the sand

if soo you don`t have too split the block you can release the piston true the front half


i think you have too clean out all water passages also in the exhaust plate
